AboutA craft across three generations

Joseph Taborda

Carpenter, third generation.

Alta Madeira was born from the craft of Joseph Taborda, a third-generation carpenter: a grandfather carpenter in Fundão, a father who went from Fundão to France, and Joseph himself born and trained in France. Thirty-five years of work, more than 500 projects and 1,600 staircases, taught him what the craft demands: calculation, execution and the right timber.

He now settles in Portugal, his family's land, to build the same carpentry here: structures designed to Eurocode 5, clean joints, timber chosen to last.

The French method

Because a calculated structure changes everything

Three steps, always in the same order. That is what keeps schedules, budgets and a building that lasts.

  1. 01

    Calculate

Sections, spans and joints designed to Eurocode 5. Nothing left to chance.

  2. 02

    Build

Carpentry joints, clean execution, tight tolerances.

  3. 03

    Last

C24 softwood, treated against wood-boring insects and termites (use class 2).
